Brett Hill has spent his life learning and implementing various levels of technology. He graduated from the Estill Springs Christian Academy in 1990 with a 3.75 GPA and a focus of studies in computers. Two weeks after graduation, he began studies in Electronics Engineering Technology at R.E.T.S. Electronics Institute (Now Virginia College) in Huntsville, Alabama. He graduated in October of 1992 with a Specialized Associates Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology as an honor Graduate with a 3.75 GPA.
Brett started his career in Management, at a Radio Shack in Winchester, TN. There he became familiar with hundreds of electronic parts and products as well as computers and digital television services.
After securing a position with IBM, Brett explored the networking elements of the computer world and quickly became efficient in LAN cabling systems for small offices and home networks. Here, he also bcame familiar with computer repair, server installation, software management, and data backup procedures.
At this point, Brett saw the potential to expand his expertice, so he expressed his capability to learn networks in deeper detail and was given the chance to prove it when he took a position as a Systems Integrator at Netcom International. here, he began buying books and logging into ports on routers and getting familiar with what makes a network tick.Soon Brett began building networks for computer labs, vocational classes, and later was found designing networks for some of the largest school districts in the nation.
Throughout the school district support, Brett became efficient in clearing viruses from networks and setting up network Security against such threats. He also surveyed the network securities and found openings in security within school networks. Network security became another major area to pursue, and Brett soon became very familiar with many levels of network security, and Later designed the Network infrastructure for the second largest High School in the State of Tennessee.
By the mid 90's Brett was introduced to Fiber Optics and Microwave Technologies. He worked in various business environments accross the United States performing tasks from Wiring, to Switch Configuration, to Microwave Bridging. This experience introduced him to WAN Technologies such as T1, DS3, Frame-Relay, ATM, ISDN, and others. Brett was quickly gaining a strong understanding of Network Structure, top to bottom, and it was all the result of self education and on job training.
Brett's broad experience and management capabilities soon led him to become part of major wireless projects for companies such as Siemen's Energy and Automation, Ferguson Enterprises, American Frieghtways, Owens Corning, and many others. He traveled in and out of country to design and oversee the installation of hundreds of mission critical wireless networks.
By the year 2000, Brett clearly became the "Go to Guy" for Network Design, Wireless Solutions, and Troubleshooting in several corporations nationwide, as well as consistantly being asked for by name by the IT staff at Athens, Georgia's UGA for his expertice in Cisco Wireless Products and troubleshooting abilities. This has given him a place to stand in the fast growing world of technology we live in today.
Healthcare became big in wireless topologies, location services, records keeping, inventory control, and internal VOIP communication. Brett has spent over 6 years working directly with some of the largest healthcare organizations in the world, designing their wireless infrastructure.
In the recent years, Brett has managed technical teams to complete precision deadlines, and critical timing projects accross the nation. These projects range from designinga Network infrastructure for a Nuclear Power Plant to Nation-wide deployment of broadband internet service, and, at times, there would be a total network overhaul thrown in there with the stipulation that the network couldn't go down at any time during the process. From the top of the Broadband tower to the keyboard on the desk top, Brett has experienced moments with every piece of equipment it takes to make your emails, picture messages, videos, and phone calls get to where they're supposed to go.
